Date1992PlaceEducation House, 178 Willis Street, WellingtonLocation^[1]NotesA bold statement of NZEI’s aims in the campaign for the renewal of national collective employment contracts was unfurled on the side of Education House in 1992.

Authorised by NZEI President Neville Lambert, the banner was designed, sewn, and painted by Past President Carol Parker, Executive Officer Cathie Penetito, and Wainuiomata Intermediate School teacher Patricia Morisette. The Russian Orthodox Church provided a venue large enough to cope with assembly of the huge volume of fabric. The trio were helped to hang it securely from the top of the building by science adviser Tony Fisher, who as well as being an NZEI member, was Secretary of the New Zealand chapter of the International Guild of Knot Tyers.

After a complaint was made to the Wellington City Council, it was found that the banner did not meet Council bylaws and had to be removed.
